We managed to gather more than 5,500 books during the book drive in New Zealand! Books came from all over Auckland, and from Wellington, Hamilton, Tauranga and Melbourne, Australia. We now have enough books for 19 more B4T village libraries and many excellent journals for schools.
We couldn't have done it without the help of our wonderful volunteers! People brought us books from their homes, people collected books at their workplaces, libraries gave us unwanted but very good books, schools also provided books and journals. The generosity of donors was incredible!
We also have volunteers who came and worked hard at unpacking, sorting and packing and preparing boxes for shipping. It was a hot and heavy tiring job at times.
Thank you all for your amazing work and contribution to Books4Tonga. We have now packed the books and they are waiting to be loaded onto the Matson ship for Tonga...... due to arrive in January 2018.
