We are holding a book drive on Saturday 25th November 2017 in Auckland and would appreciate it if you spread the word to all your contacts in or near Auckland.
Use word of mouth, place it on your workplace intranet, or just get in touch with people you think would be interested in donating books. We are hoping to receive several thousand books on 25 November to ship to Tonga.
Please keep in mind that are seeking new and ‘gently used’ second hand books in English, for readers from pre-school age and up. Learning-to-read books, picture books, early chapter books, teen novels, novels, non-fiction and educational books will all be gratefully received.
Here is our helpful guideline for donating books: Consider what you, or children you know, would like to read if you had a small village library. Books that are in good condition, and children’s books gently used without scribbles and stains. All books will ideally be less than 15 years old unless they are in very good condition and timeless classics, for example by Beatrix Potter or Dr Seuss, or favourite subjects like Hairy McClary. Non-fiction books on subjects that are educational, e.g.: about space, volcanoes, or anatomy etc.., should be reasonably up to date. We are not able to accept textbooks.
Drop-off day: Saturday 25 November 2017
Drop-off time: Between 8.30am – 8.00pm Please try to deliver your books in boxes (for shipping)
